Keeping Up With...
This is the last Fashionistafail blog about going on an overseas trip. Makes sense as I’m finally jumping on a plane in 4 sleeps to head to Europe!!! *Insert excited squeal here*
When I started Fashionistafail I was in a position where I’d been rather irresponsible with money, I was living the single person life in Melbourne Australia, I had no idea that in the next 2 years I would move back home to New Zealand, nor did I know that when I finally got to do my travels, I’d be engaged to the love of my life.
Did it take me the 1 year I’d planned to save and travel on my own? No sir, it took me 2 years, but wow, it’s really taught me that although life doesn’t always go to plan (and sometimes what is thrown in the way of a good plan is uber shitty), all’s well that ends well.
Where am I going in this big wide world? Dubai, Paris, Lucerne, Venice, Florence, Rome, Tuscany, Amalfi Coast, Santorini, Folegandros…With whom am I going? First leg, my rather wonderful friend Becky. Second leg? I’ll meet my fella at a train station in Florence - can anyone say “like in a romantic movie” (minus the slow mo and soppy soundtrack of course) and the rest we will adventure through together.
I’ve had a couple of conversations with people about what to do with the blog…What’s next in life to discuss? I have no idea…What I do know, is that there is always something to talk about, and so it would feel premature of me to say that Fashionistafail is done and dusted now I’m doing ‘the trip’. I think more so, it’s about life and times, and therefore, moving forward can be about, well, anything that tickles my fancy!
I want to say thank you. Thank you to those of you who joined me on my journey. Who laughed with me (and at me), shared with me, stopped me in my tracks in that first year of my strict no shopping policy when I really wanted a ‘life changing dress’ and reminded me of my long term goals, thanks to those patient friends in Melbourne and Auckland who helped me take photos for the #ootd. Every. Damn. Day. For 365 days+ (Thank goodness that’s over, seriously - do you know how many crappy photos it takes to get one good enough for Instagram!? Painful.)
It’s been fun. I’ve loved sharing bit and bobs with you over the past couple of years. Throughout this process, not only did I discover that I won’t actually die without a new outfit for an event, but I also discovered that I really enjoy writing, and I enjoy sharing, and I enjoy talking about things that matter, and so, although ‘what next’ is unclear, no doubt I’ll want to talk about something at some point!
Until then though, thank you again. I’m beyond happy, I’m so excited, I don’t know what to expect while I’m adventuring around the Northern Hemisphere but I'm sure I'll have stories to tell, and I’m so very grateful for all the good stuff and things and people in life. Hashtag blessed.
Here’s to safe travels!
Love Caro x
